The BOOST-IN project took a significant step forward in its mission to promote water circularity during the latest edition of Foro Transfiere in Málaga, Spain.
As one of Europe’s leading forums for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Foro Transfiere provided the perfect backdrop for BOOST-IN to showcase its progress and engage directly with the innovation ecosystem. Represented alongside our partner BIOAZUL, the project spent the week fostering connections, sharing R&D results, and—most importantly—hosting a pivotal event for the Andalusian water sector.
The highlight of our participation was the II Co-creation Workshop, specifically focused on the acceptance and implementation of reclaimed water in Andalusian agriculture.
In a region increasingly facing water scarcity and climate pressure, the transition to a circular water model is no longer optional—it is a necessity. However, technical solutions alone are not enough; social acceptance, regulatory alignment, and stakeholder trust are the keys to success.
During the session, we gathered a diverse group of stakeholders—including farmers, researchers, policy-makers, and technology providers—to:
- Identify the current barriers preventing the widespread use of reclaimed water.
- Explore successful business models and governance frameworks.
- Co-design strategies to increase trust in water reuse for irrigation.
Throughout the week, the BOOST-IN presence at the BIOAZUL stand served as a hub for discussion. It was an enriching experience to exchange perspectives with visitors interested in how our project is facilitating the uptake of circular economy solutions in the water sector.
These interactions are vital. BOOST-IN is built on the belief that innovation only reaches its full potential when it is shared and validated by those who will use it on the ground. The feedback received in Málaga will directly inform our upcoming project deliverables and the refinement of our “Roadmap for Water Reuse.”
