During the official opening of the traditional photo exhibition organized by the Bulgarian Water Association (BWA) with the theme in 2026 “Water Harmony”, a number of accompanying activities related to the Association’s mission to support the free and professional activities of its members took place. The event focused on efforts to solve current challenges in the Water sector, including the problems of water supply and sanitation, the purification of natural and wastewater, as well as the effective and sustainable management of water resources and environmental protection.
The event took place on March 16, 2026 at the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Eng. Petar Dimitrov, the Rector of the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivaylo Koprev and the Director of the Water Management Directorate at the Ministry of Environment and Water Iliyana Todorova. The official guests emphasized the importance of cooperation between institutions, the academic community and professional organizations for the sustainable development of the water sector and the effective management of water resources in the country.
Two consecutive presentations were presented to the guests and specialists in the field. In the first, the BWA team introduced the audience to the progress of the BOOST-IN project, focusing on its goals, main activities and expected results, aimed at innovation and sustainable development in the sector. In the second presentation, a prototype of an industrial wastewater treatment system was demonstrated, which aroused serious interest among the participants. The technological solutions, the efficiency of the process and the potential applications of the system in real operation were presented.
The event provided an opportunity for the exchange of experience, ideas and good practices between experts, business representatives and institutions, once again emphasizing the role of BWA as a key factor in the development of the water sector in Bulgaria.
