BOOST-IN will play a key role in two high-level Water Projects Europe (WPE) events taking place during the Winter Edition of Water Knowledge Europe at the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels. These events bring together leading EU-funded initiatives shaping Europe’s transition toward a Water-Smart Society and Economy—where circularity, climate resilience, and systemic innovation drive the future of water management.
WPE: Circularity in Industrial Water (09:30–12:00, Thon Hotel EU)
As Europe moves toward a climate-neutral and circular industrial future, water emerges as both a critical resource and a pressing challenge. Industrial sectors face mounting pressures from scarcity, pollution, and competition for water, requiring a shift from linear consumption patterns to circular, regenerative approaches.
Anchored in the Zero Pollution Action Plan and the newly released Water Resilience Strategy, the WPE session on Circularity in Industrial Water will spotlight leading Horizon Europe projects—RESURGENCE, CORNERSTONE, and R3VOLUTION—developed under the Processes4Planet partnership (A.SPIRE). These initiatives are demonstrating groundbreaking solutions for industrial water reuse, resource recovery, pollution reduction, and energy efficiency through pilots across Europe.
The event will also feature the completed iWAYS project, a flagship example of heat and water recovery in challenging industrial contexts. BOOST-IN will be presented as a key contributor showcasing how circular economy principles can transform water-intensive sectors, offering tools, best practices, and insights that support industries in meeting environmental goals while boosting competitiveness.
Water Europe continues to foster collaborative clusters to maximize impact and accelerate the uptake of results. This WPE event serves not only as a showcase of technological advances but also as a platform for shared learning and cross-project synergies aligned with the Water-Smart Society and Economy vision. WPE: From Alternative Water to Circular Solutions (09:00–12:30, Thon Hotel EU)
In parallel, the second WPE event—From Alternative Water to Circular Solutions—will explore how innovative approaches to Alternative Water Resources (AWR) can strengthen Europe’s climate adaptation capacity. Climate change has intensified scarcity and competition for water, forcing a rethinking of traditional supply strategies.
This session brings together the AWR4CLIMATE cluster, composed of MARCLAIMED, AWARD, and RECREATE, which are piloting new solutions including aquifer recharge, adaptive reservoir management, and advanced water reuse technologies.
However, innovation alone is not enough. To thrive, these solutions must connect to broader systemic frameworks. This is where CIRSEAU and BOOST-IN play an essential role. These projects help integrate AWR practices into circular water systems, break policy and operational barriers, and scale knowledge across sectors and regions.
Together, these five projects demonstrate a unified story: how pioneering demonstrations, digital tools, and systemic methodologies converge to drive Europe toward a resilient, circular, and climate-adapted water future, in line with the objectives of the EU water priorities and the European Green Deal.
